Will you be running the 10km this year?
Every year our team join the rest of St Helens to take part in the St Helens 10km run hosted at Langtree Park. 2016 will be no exception, and we will be running to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society do fantastic work. They work with the 850,000 people currently living with Dementia in the UK to keep them connected to their lives and to the people who they care about the most. So many of us are affected by Dementia and Alzheimer’s, either directly or indirectly, and the way in which this charity helps those affected is so practical and valuable that we are driven to make them one of our ever growing network of charitable partners who we donate to every year.
Each year we choose a different cause. Last year we ran for Mind, the mental health charity, who provide information and support to those affected by mental health problems, particularly those who suffer alone.
The day of the run is always an exciting and enjoyable occasion and all the entry proceeds are donated to the Steve Prescott foundation. Steve Prescott sadly passed away from a rare form of abdominal cancer in Nov 2013, but he had set up his foundation when diagnosed in 2006 to raise awareness and funds for related charities.
We are 8 strong here and we all take part! Our times are a little dodgy but we are told it’s the taking part that counts, or at least that’s what we tell ourselves.
If you’re taking part we’ll see you there, if you’re undecided, get moving! You still have a few months to get into shape, get running!
